Hold and Mould that Clay to Create Something Beautiful

As much as it needs creativity and imagination, clay can be moulded into something beautiful only when you use your hands and a few tools. Press it with your fingers, flatten it with your palms, etch or emboss on it, and shape it into something unique. Our wide selection of moulding materials and tools will allow you to get started with your handiwork in no time. Whether you are an expert sculptor, a child, or a clay and casting enthusiast, get your hands dirty and create something extraordinary.

Pinch, Slab, Coil, Wheel – Shaping Clay is Child’s Play

As long as you have a little imagination and are willing to get your hands soiled, clay modelling is one of the easiest crafts to indulge in. Give the young ones a few colourful blocks, and you may be able to enjoy a siesta or cook a meal, uninterrupted! But why just kids, clay modelling may also help adults to take their mind off the daily grind, and experience joy in creating something beautiful. While hard core clay artists have invented several ways to shape things out of clay, here are a few simple ones that anyone can try:

  • Pinch: Use your index finger and thumb and keep pinching or stretching a lump of clay into any shape you desire.
  • Slab: Lay the lump on a flat surface and roll it out into a flat sheet using your palms or a rolling pin type of tool. Now cut the shapes you need and use them to assemble your creation.
  • Coil: Pull out small pieces from the clay block and use your palm to roll it into a ball. Now continue to roll your fingers or palm over the ball till you get thin snakelike pipe formations. Use them as-is or twirl them into a coil to shape up your creation.
  • Wheel: If you have access to a potter’s wheel, spin the clay using both hands and mould it into pots, vases or any other shape that you wish to create.
